Middle School Therapeutic Program: In District

The Middle School Therapeutic Program: In District provides a structured environment for students whose emotional, behavioral, health, or learning challenges have impacted their abilities to be successful in traditional classroom groupings. Many students in this program are at or above grade-level academically but require smaller classroom sizes to regulate their behavior and form effective peer relationships. Although students may attend this program immediately upon referral, most students have progressed so that they can transition from one of Shore’s Elementary Therapeutic Programs to this classroom, in a public middle school. Students are mainstreamed for some or most classes, to the extent that they can be most successful. Many students move from this program to their own districts’ traditional high schools.

Therapeutic Services Available

Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Counseling

Parent Support Program: Parents communicate regularly with teachers and clinicians about their children. Just as students are part of the fabric of the school, parents join school organizations and attend school-wide events and functions.
