Elementary Therapeutic Program: In District

The Elementary Therapeutic Program: In District provides a structured environment for students whose emotional, behavioral, health, or learning challenges have impacted their abilities to be successful in traditional classroom groupings. Many students in this program are at or above grade-level academically but require smaller classroom sizes to regulate their behavior and form effective adult and peer relationships. Although students may attend this program immediately upon referral, most students transition from Shore’s Elementary Day School to this Shore program, in a public school, as their behaviors have improved. Students are mainstreamed for some classes, to the extent that they can be successful. Many students move on from this program to Shore’s Middle School Program, also in a public school district, or may return to their own district’s traditional classroom settings.
