Pilgrim Academy
Pilgrim Academy is an alternative Middle/High School program supporting students in Grades 5-12 who have been identified for special education services due to the presence of an emotional disability and/or behavioral challenges. It is located in Plymouth in a separate, self-contained, fully-featured school building built specifically for the program. Academic abilities for Academy students range from above average to low average and students are provided a curriculum that is adequately challenging given the student’s skill levels.
The program is designed to supplement academic content instruction with strong therapeutic supports, including a structured incentive-based point system, ongoing counseling and clinical interventions to positively address issues that interfere with students’ success. Pilgrim Academy provides an academic curriculum consistent with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Curriculum Frameworks. The curriculum addresses the academic proficiencies and credits required to qualify for a high school diploma from the student’s home school district.
