Hurd Elementary Program at the Ripley School
The Ripley Elementary School is a therapeutic day school that serves students in grades K-5 with a variety of social, emotional, behavioral, and learning needs. The goal of this program is to equip children with the behavioral, social-emotional, and academic skills needed to meet the day-to-day demands of a traditional elementary school program. All curricula follows the standards based on the Common Core Curriculum Frameworks, while also providing individual students with support, adaptations and accommodations they need in order to reach their learning potential.
The Ripley School Program offers:
- Small, highly specialized and rigorous group instruction and clinical groups based on the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Emphasis on project based learning
- Balanced literacy Program
- Social/Emotional skill development addressed through PBIS and Restorative Justice Practices
- Counselors on staff provide both therapeutic and case management supports to students and their families and interface with other medical, court appointed and/or community based supports as needed.
- Creative arts program
- Full court gymnasium and student recreational room for physical education
- Theater, photography, and multi-media electives
