Embark Transition Program

The Embark Transition Program is located on the campus of Salem State University so that young adult students can experience the benefits of campus navigation while developing life and career skills such as travel training, paid internships, study skills, organizational skills and independent social functioning. Students participate in paid community based internships. They also attend specialized life skills classes and have opportunities to participate in “campus life” in the Salem State dining hall and library, as well as utilizing the local YMCA for wellness classes. Students have the opportunity to participate in the Independent Living Orientation Program in which students reside in a dorm on campus for one week with staff support.

Embark is geared toward young adults with intellectual challenges who want to focus on the goals of increased independence across settings and traveling in the community. They also learn skills on career development through participation in paid internships training in community based settings and organizations.
